Yeah! Now that I'm not falling asleep at my keyboard, I'm gonna go ahead and do the fancy post-con journal entry. >w<Thursday
and I left my place around 12-1 or so for the nice trek up to Denver. It was really very smooth sailing up until we hit I-225. That's when the traffic came. As per usual, there was traffic due to construction. That's usually bearable. What WASN'T bearable was being stopped for five minutes. Yeah. It got that bad. No moving at a constant speed or anything. There was some sort of accident that had occurred apparently (not sure how bad it was, but what I saw wasn't bad for an accident) and people.were.rubbernecking. (Staring at the accident.) I was very furious. Could have been at the hotel 30-45 minutes sooner if it hadn't been for that mess. Thankfully, it wasn't nearly as bad as the traffic we ran into last Wasabi and thankfully it wasn't Friday.
Anywho, once we got to the hotel, we hung out with some friends of ours. Went on a nice trek to find a Wal-mart somewhere near the hotel and I ended up buying about $30 worth of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. OTL I couldn't resist. There were Fennekin and its evolutions (Braixen and Delphox) and first-gen Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. It was technically near the con, so I'm counting it as a convention purchase to justify it. x3 There were some decent cards too, so no complaints here. Would have potentially bought one more thing, but I resisted as that would have made my purchase at Wal-Mart closer to $50. Yeah... Then we went back to the hotel for badge pick up. x3
After that, we followed said friends to the swimming pool area. I hadn't brought my swim suit, so I just rolled up my pant legs and stuck my feet in the hot tub. It was INCREDIBLY nice, that's for sure. Would have been nicer after the con, but who has time for that when you're tired and needing to go home? Ended up scoping out the hotel afterwards. I also broke my glasses. xD They were already damaged, but now they're being held together by duct tape. Attack on Titan Abridged is all I can say on the matter. I laughed so hard. Then bed time. I had a reasonable amount of trouble sleeping Thursday night, due to the floor being decently uncomfortable and people talking at normal voice levels at 3 in the morning. x_x Honestly, I can run on six hours of sleep and be okay, but that was a bit of a pain. Silly night peoples and their graveyard shifts.Friday
Got up and into my Ichigo cosplay on Friday morning. 8D Look forward to incredibly spiffy Ichigo pictures taken by
! They'll be up at some point this week. xD I just have to go through the images and pick out which ones I enjoy. That was really the jist of Friday morning - changing and taking pictures. We didn't get to check into the hotel room until about 2, 'cause it wasn't quite ready. Plus we had the Naruto shoot at about 2:30, so changing took place quickly and we didn't really move our gear from our friends' room and our car until afterwards. It was Attack on Titan the rest of the day. >w< I'd been DYING to cosplay Jean (still am, even as I type this after con) all day and fully intended on staying in him for as long as I possibly could. If I hadn't had prior obligations and Ryuu-Kizu
wouldn't have killed me for it, I would have just straight up done Attack on Titan for the duration of the weekend. It's been a while since I've loved a cosplay so much that I just want to stay in it, regardless of how many pictures I get and Jean was definitely that cosplay. I love him so much. OTL
Anyways! We did a lot of roaming of the dealer's room and artist's alley. We'd tried making the Friday Attack on Titan photoshoot and would have been 10 minutes late, except it got started way early and ended way early. I was quite sad, but it's okay. We just continued doing our roaming thing. 8D I got to meet/hang out with a fellow Final Fantasy XIV fan officially throughout the weekend. She'd contacted me via Facebook, 'cause she saw my Thancred avatar (which has since been changed to a picture of my Jean cosplay) and we just started talking~ So that was fun. x3 I didn't really go to any panels or anything. Just kinda wandered around and took pictures and was generally soaking in and enjoying the convention.
Oh, yeah. I can't move in my Attack on Titan cosplay. My legs have practically no range of motion.
There are pictures on Facebook of me trying to pick up a 3DS that I dropped. I managed to get down successfully, but I couldn't get back up for the life of me. It was great. Everyone laughed and I laughed in return. xD Ended up picking on a couple of Erens and generally being a nut. Con shenanigans are great fun. But I definitely have to go to the store this week and buy new pants, especially if I want to dork around Fox Run Park or Garden of the Gods in my Jean cosplay or anything silly like that.Saturday
Woke up with a headache around 7. D8 It wasn't great and therefore, I didn't want to get up. I did slowly make my way up and out of my sleeping back and once I started moving around I started feeling better, but man. It was such a pain. My new FFXIV buddy gave me some Advil (only took it because it was con and walking around with a headache isn't fun) and that did help - even if it was just the placebo effect. Makes me wonder if I was/am trying to come down with something. Regardless, I ended up getting into my Gintoki cosplay. >w< Had pictures taken by
of that, so I'll be posting a couple pictures on here whenever those are finished. 83 Got changed into Lugia and Ho-oh briefly (it was a fairly quick change, really) and walked around for a little. Took a couple pictures of those and I'll post them soon enough. Nothing fancy, just shows how the cosplays ended up coming together. x3 I'm pleased. They looked incredibly fancy. Would have worn them to the Pokemon shoot on Saturday, but it was at 3 - the same time as the Saturday Attack on Titan shoot...Guess which one won out? xD Yeah, got changed into Jean and ended up being JUST in time for Jean pictures, although my friends and I were running about 10 minutes late. It was fun~ I'm still looking for more pictures from that shoot, because JEAN.
So yeah, after that was, once again, mostly running around in my Attack on Titan getup. If you couldn't tell by now, I freaking love that cosplay. xDD Wandered the dealer's room and artist's alley more. Coughed up a nice $50 for a commission of Jean and one of Marco. You never see fanarts of those two ANYWHERE at conventions (or paraphernalia of them for that matter), so I was happy and willing to pay that sum. Normally I wouldn't, but hey, the commissions were done within 10 minutes (a piece) on the spot and great fun to watch. I'm a huge, HUGE sucker for good art, as I've said many a time to many a person, and when you mix that with two of my favorite characters, well, I spend more than I normally would. That being said, I did end up with some money left over for after-con shenanigans, mostly involving Amazon and eBay and, you guessed it, Jean.
At one point, my shoulders and back were absolutely killing me. Ryuu was doing his best to relieve some of the pain (a knot had developed, silly thing...) and a well-known Kamina/Vash the Stampede cosplayer came over and asked if he could help. Turns out he's a licensed massage therapist. Normally I would have declined his help, but it hurt enough that I welcomed it quite a lot. So yes, my body was just not happy with my at this convention. It's okay though, 'cause it turned out AMAZINGLY anyways. Silly physiology and its silly habits. xD But yeah, once that was done with, more wandering took place. Ended up being awake until about 1:30am. There was great fun in hanging out with more crazy friends and watching them play crazy games. Also made a video for
. >:3 Will be uploading that to Facebook or YouTube laters~ And honestly, I'd had every intention of packing up and starting to get my luggage moved out of the room before the next morning, but I was tired enough I crashed hard.Sunday
Why is it that you meet the best people and have the most fun on Sunday? Y'know, the day you have to leave the con? Wellp, that's basically always what ends up happening to me.
Got checked out around 11:30 or so after moving luggage downstairs and getting changed into my Sora getup. Ended up scraping myself with my suitcase, 'cause I had to drag it down four flights of stairs (elevators were not an option), but there was no blood shed. Just pain. (Hah, this whole weekend had pain somewhere, didn't it? xD Well, what's cosplay without it?) Much more wandering proceeded after the fact - mostly in the dealer's room and artist's alley, as per usual. Talked to
for eeeeeever~ It was fun. I bought some fancy pictures and fancy buttons and an incredibly clever picture of Mushu (Mulan) with Dragon Balls. 8D I love talking to folks in the artist's alley. They're typically far more personable than the people in the dealer's room. That also happens to be where I usually blow most of my money. Go figure.
Almost immediately after I left the Artist's Alley I ran into a Marco. GO FIGURE I'd find an incredibly well-done Marco AFTER I'm done cosplaying Jean for the weekend. If that cosplay wasn't a pain to get into and I could drive home in those pants, I totally would have run to my car and thrown on Jean as quickly as I could have. Of course, it didn't help that my gear was all packed up as well...
Ah, it's alright. I still got a few pictures and was still incredibly happy to have met her. 8D Wish I could find her on Facebook... OTL But yes, I flipped out due to pure joy. Fingers crossed she'll be at DCC or NDK. ;~; After that wonderous discovery, I had lunch with Ryuu and another friend of ours who graciously brought in a nice meal of chips, cheese, and crackers from his car for us. Hungry con goers are hungry. All I can say on the matter. We were joined by more friends and proceeded to quote Attack on Titan Abridged very loudly while causing havoc and mayhem with whipped cream and chips. Yes. There are pictures of those shenanigans too. xD Wandered the dealer's room and artist's alley for a final time before hanging out with more friends and making new friends and whatnot. Met an adorable Armin and Mikasa. Recorded the Armin playing the piano. For some reason, it just fit - Armin playing the piano. *-* He seems like the sort of character who would do so. They were great fun for sure.
So yes! That's the jist of the convention there. I'm sore and tired and dearly wanting to cosplay Jean right not. Kinda sorta really wanna go to Garden of the Gods and take ALL THE PICTURES. But alas, my cosplay partner is at work as I'm typing this and I kind of need someone to hold the camera for me.
Wellp in any case, buying a new pair of white pants (ones I can actually move in) is definitely on the agenda for the week. Might see about trying to go to a post-con meetup, but that remains to be seen.
