Prayer Request

EDIT 3: The fire is 75% contained. =] I've been out of the pre-evac zone for a couple of days now, but this is the first time I've updated since then. I've been working on cleaning up my room before I start bringing back everything. Approximately 500 homes were lost in the fire. =/ Thousands more were saved, but it's still heartbreaking to hear about that many families being displaced. Even with that though, the firefighters have been making leaps and bounds in terms of progress. And with that little update, I have things to do, including taking care of my DA again. Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, and support.

EDIT 2: First off, the layout of the journal entries has changed and it's kinda weird. But anyways beyond that... Two of my friends who are under mandatory evacuation still have their houses. I'm so happy. Looking at a detailed map it looks as if the fire got close to one, but didn't quite make it. The other one lives a bit further from the fire and it hasn't crossed one specific street. A third friend, however, may not be so lucky. About 75% of the houses on his street are gone and they're not sure if theirs is one of them. I know this family and they'll take it in stride. It sucks 'cause they've been building the house for the past few years and they were almost done, but yeah. I'm just glad they're safe. So far two people (I don't think I know them) have died, a lot of houses have burned, and a lot more people have been evacuated. I'm still under pre-evac and I'll be going out of town tomorrow. However all my really expensive/dear/generally awesome items are out of the danger zone, so I'm not worried. Even if I did only have a couple things I could grab as long as I'm alive and everyone I know is alive, I'm alright. =] So yeah. EDIT: So, I'm still not in too much trouble, however my area is under pre-evacuation notice. My family and I have packed up and moved out a lot of our more expensive/valuable/sentimental items. So long as the fire doesn't cross the highway we'll be fine. However, while things are generally calm as of now, the winds are supposed to be picking up again this evening. I'm still not overly worried, but that's just a general update.

Guys, my city is burning again. We don't know anything about how or why yet, but I have friends who have lost their homes and whose homes are in immediate danger. The eerie thing is, and I were discussing how it was a good thing that it wasn't Black Forest, as Black Forest would go up in flames...fast. We need prayers and we need support. Black Forest is gorgeous and I'm deeply saddened by it going up in flames.

On a personal level, my house isn't in any immediate danger, just given the weather patterns we usually have here. However even I'm not out of the woods yet. If the fire changes direction, as it most likely can, I may have to evacuate. I'm just stupidly, ridiculously blessed that the fire wasn't started more north of where it was. =/ We don't know if this is arson or pure carelessness. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the former just given the timing and the fact that we've had two seriously major fires within the past year. If the fire had started in Fox Run Park, I would have had to evacuate. THAT is how close it is to me. I won't give more specifics than that, but like I said, if the weather patterns warp for whatever strange reason, I'll likely have to leave.

So yeah, that's what's going on. Everyone I know is safe, as they have evacuated or are on pre-evacuation notice. Just please, please pray. And just as a warning, don't even THINK about making any comments along the lines of, "Well these people know they live in a high fire danger zone blah blah blah blah blah..." It sounds like some reporters were making those comments yesterday and it pisses me off. I'll block your sorry arse if I read anything of the sort. Yes, it's a very high fire danger zone, but on the same note we haven't had fires out there since about the '80s or so. So yeah. No smart mouthed comments regarding this situation. I'm in a no tolerance mood right now.

In the same note, it sounds like Rocky Mountain National Park, where I was last weekend, is also on fire. I'm thankful I'm at home right now.
